You’ve heard the saying “God’s Country”. It can be anywhere. But you know it when you see it. When I think about God’s country, I tend to think about the mountains and how beautiful they are in the spring and fall. I remember living in the Carolina mountains for a season and it was both heaven and hell. The beauty and majesty all around was a sight indeed to behold and I could see why it would be called God’s country. I would soon learn that in the midst of the beauty there was a hell. I didn’t see it coming; it was so subtle that it when it finally registered I couldn’t believe I missed it.
You see, the enemy will insert himself into every situation that he can. He will turn beauty into ashes. Trample all over that gorgeous scenery just to get inside your head. To let you know he can get to you anytime he wants. The enemy wants you to think there is no hope. He wants you to know despair, to fear the unknown. If he can make you believe that the unknown is a terrifying place then he can control you like a puppet.
But here’s the thing…
He was created by God just like you and me. He thought he could be above God. He ignored one very important thing. The beginning.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.John 1:1-2
Satan knew the battle was lost before it ever started. He knew and yet he continues seeking those whom he can devour. The unknown. His playground to instill terror into a person if they let him. The unknown can be a little frightening. But it doesn’t have to strike terror in our hearts. Instead it can be the start of something new and exciting. Take back the control over the unknown by speaking truth into the enemy’s lies.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.Joshua 1:9
God’s country. A little peace of heaven in an otherwise chaotic world. Embrace it. Cherish it. Don’t let the enemy steal it from you. God bless!💗
