Scriptures
Here are some verses I found helpful to both encourage me to pray and to incorporate in my prayers.
- Psalms 51:10 – Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
- 1 Thessalonians 5: 17 – pray without ceasing
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you
- Colossians 1:3 – We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
- Hebrews 4:16 – Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
- 2 Chronicles 7:14 – if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
- Matthew 11:30 – For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
- Matthew 6:12, 14 – And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
- Psalms 40: 2,3 – He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth. Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.
- Colossians 3:15 – And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
- Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- 1 Thessalonians 5: 25 – Brethren, pray for us.
- Mark 11:24 – Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
- Luke 6:28 – bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
- Matthew 26:41 – Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak.
- Psalms 63:3 – Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You.
- James 5:16 – Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
- Psalms 5:2 – Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, for to You I pray.
- Psalms 55:1 – Give ear to my prayer, O God; and do not hide Yourself from my supplication.
- Psalms 54: 2 – Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to to the words of my mouth.
- Psalms 55: 16 – As for me, I will call upon God, and the Lord will save me.
- Psalms 119:135 – Make Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes.
- Luke 6:28 – bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.
- Mark 13:33 – Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
- James 5:13 – Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms.
