Celebrate the Little Things

Ah, just paid off one of those pesky little bills. πŸ˜€ Woo Hoo! Around this time of year hospitals will sometimes run discounts if you pay your bill in full. And when you have several, paying off one no matter how small or large it is, is something to celebrate. So here I am doing a happy dance and praising the Lord, thanking Him that we were able to pay off one of the bills.

Yep, celebrate the little things. My enemy didn’t like that so much.

My enemy decided he didn’t like my happy dance. He decided to attack our finances. I decided he wasn’t going to steal my joy. Funny how things work out sometimes. Since our dog is terrified of storms we often have to sedate her to calm her down. Two days in a row of thunderstorms wasn’t ideal and I was allowed to take her to work with me since I work at our church and she’s really good about obeying. Its drizzling out, I’m trying to put a dog, lunch, dog supplies, my purse and bag in the car, and I still have to get her bed. I get this poor baby in the car along with the stuff and run back inside for her bed. Get her in the bed, hop in the car, turn the key and nothing. All I get is a clicking noise. I’m thinking, seriously? So I try again. Nothing. I call my handy dandy mechanic husband – no not really, he doesn’t work on cars – but I did call him.

Thankfully where he works is only about ten minutes away from home. Okay, I’ll take the dog inside the house and we’ll wait for him to come home. Nope not happening. She refused to get out of the car. My husband comes home and at first we can’t get the car jumped off and I’m praying, please let it be something simple like needing a battery. Finally, it starts and we head to the store in hopes of it just needing a battery. Yes! A new battery and I’m good to go. A battery that cost enough money that it almost countered the celebratory happy dance earlier in the week. But I chose to celebrate the small things and praised the Lord instead that it was a battery and not something more.

Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 5:20

Instead of letting the enemy steal your joy, be thankful in all things even when it seems like life throws you a curve. Choose to praise the Lord and instead of the enemy stealing your joy, you can steal his by not giving in to his attempts to steal from you. God bless!

  1. Thank you for that reminder! The Devil has tried hard for two months to steal my joy and put me in a state of fear in my finances! I will continue to be faithful where God has called me and pray for the ability to choose good stewardship strategies instead of flesh decisions! Thank you for your words!

  2. It’s so good to celebrate the little things. They help us to gain perspective and see what Abba is doing in our lives. As I read I’m glad that pesky bill has been paid off! Hooray! Plus the Lord made room to buy a battery! And your husband works near to home! And you can take your pet to work! And it can go on and on….Abba is aaammaazzinng!
