The Nudge

Recently I was having coffee with a friend of mine and she said to me I think you should write a book with your devotionals. Or something to that affect. And of course I gave her that deer in the headlights look. It started with a nudge. Normally I send my text devotionals only to the people on my list unless I’m asked to add someone. In fact I almost ignored the nudge thinking to myself that I was just tired and I had pulled her text feed up mistake. The feeling wouldn’t go away so I did what any obedient person would do and I sent it to her. She liked it so I added her to my list of family and friends that I send the devotionals out too.

This is the same friend who decided I needed to start a blog and after much prayer I started blogwithmarie.com. Seven months in and now she’s saying I need to write a devotional book. I’m saying stuff like, do you know how much it will cost? Are you going to do research on it? And of course her answer – she started researching while we were having coffee. So of course I started researching as well. Then I get – what is the name of your book? Um, haven’t thought about it, yet. Am I really going to do this? So she asks me how many devotionals I had. My reply, I’ve been sending these out for years. Great, 365 day devotional. That’s her answer. Wait. What? You want me to do a year’s worth of devotionals?

If you have a dear friend like mine who encourages you to do something totally out of the box, be prepared for that person to have an answer for any -roadblock you think you might come up with. She called me the other day, asking me questions about start up. Oh my gosh, we’re really doing this. And yes, we, because there is no way I can do it by myself.

Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another, just as you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

My family thinks it’s a good idea as well so it looks like I’m putting a devotional book together. I need a title for the book. I need to pull all of the devotionals together into one place. In short…

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

And He will definitely have to strengthen me and show me the way to bring this all about. I’m excited, a little nervous and I can’t wait to see what God has in store. Can I ask you to pray for me? God bless!

  1. It is a blessing to have a friend like that and it sure looks like God is nudging you to do something.
I pray that you will have clarity to sort out how to go about it and perseverance to see the whole thing through. May the Lords hand be upon you as you go ahead.

I was nudged by my husband to start blogging. I kept putting it off and finally started almost a year ago. About a couple of months ago he told me about putting it all in a book- I just said hmmm. Because the thought is daunting and I honestly don’t know where to start. So all I am saying is I get an idea of what you felt.
    Have a wonderful day Marie.

    1. Thank you so much for your encouraging words! My prayer for you is that you will hear from the Lord and if you are to write your book, that He will give you clear direction, wisdom to discern and an encouraging friend in your pocket to see you through to completion. It can be daunting but just like you stepped out and started blogging He will give you guidance in writing. I will be praying for you! 😊
