Obstacles – What Do You Do?

Look who came to visit!

Meet Fred. (Don’t ask, he needed a name so I gave him one.😅 Not to judge, if he is a she then her name is Freida. Wasn’t about to go outside and check.) So about Fred. He came calling on a Saturday afternoon. My husband was the first to notice him staring at the door like it was going to open so he could continue with his journey. We watched him for a bit to see if he would move on but he just stayed there staring at the door so we went about our business. Our son had come over for a visit and I want to say we played a game of Risk. I’ll go ahead and tell you that it drives my family crazy when I win. They strategize and me, I haven’t a clue as to what I am doing so you can see why it drives them crazy when I win. (By the way for those of you who read the Mother’s Day post, I won at Risk -fair and square. 😉) We checked on Fred during a short break but I guess he got tired of staring at the door and had left. Fred had an obstacle in his way but he managed to find a way around it. Thinking about Fred and his obstacle – a house not doubt- I thought about how we deal with our own obstacles.

As Christians we are taught to seek Him first. To give our troubles to the Lord. Sounds easy enough. After all we’ve been taught to seek Him daily. So why is it we sometimes hold on to that problem instead of releasing it to the Lord? Sometimes the obstacle is our self. Other times it is an attack from the enemy. He starts whispering in your ear that you’ll never get past that obstacle staring you in the face. He tells you that you are a failure and no matter what you do it isn’t going to move. It is easy to become paralyzed by the whispers from the enemy, especially if you already doubt yourself. (Another lie from the enemy.)

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.

Psalm 138:7

In the middle of our troubles He is there. He is ready to take control of the situation, to defeat and save us from our enemy, if we let Him. When the obstacle is our self it is usually because of past attacks from the enemy and the lies that were told to us back then. We think that we are unworthy and don’t deserve to be helped. But the truth is we are worthy. Worthy in God’s eyes where it matters. Where it counts. And if He believes we are worthy then who are we to think otherwise? Is there an obstacle in your life that seems as big as a house and you don’t see a way around it? Give it to the Lord and watch as He makes a way for you to get past it.

But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26

With God all things are possible. God bless! 💗

  1. Amen 🙏🏽 Marie. With God all things are possible. Giving our obstacles to God is the right thing to do but we do have the tendency to try in our own strength. But God is patient and teaches us ( hopefully we have our eyes open to His teachings) to leave our burdens at His feet.
    Blessings 😊💙

  2. I confess, at times in my Christian life it has seemed like there was a house in front of me, but God brought me around it. No more than a doll house to Him, I suspect. A thought provoking post. Thank you.

  3. What a delightful way to teach this truth, Marie! Made me smile big. I bet God was smiling too, watching Fred. I also am pretty sure He sent him up to your door that way to add joy and revelation to your day. 😀 And congratulations on winning!

    1. Thank you! It’s all God. I love how God will send a “Fred” to bring a teaching moment. It was fun to win – my poor guys really hate that I have no strategy and manage to pull a win. But they are good sports about it and the important thing is we have fun. 💗
